POWERS: Doug’s power is a very simplistic one, he has a very low level psionic ability that allows his brain to break down languages, and intuitively know every language that he comes into contact with. He also can pick up dialects without a problem, and his pronunciation is always flawless.
This is not limited to the spoken word, but any other language and cipher. From computer to Morse code, Doug can break down the patterns in all of them, and utilize them without even thinking twice. It is theorized that his power is a low level passive telepathy, but no one knows for sure.
HISTORY: Doug was born to Cindy and Thomas Ramsey of Deerfield, Illinois in the late 1980’s. Doug led a fairly normal childhood. When his mutant power manifested no one really noticed because he didn't cause any explosions, things weren’t being flung around his room, no one really thought anything of it. The Ramsey's just thought they had a child prodigy on their hands.
The Ramsey's showered their son with gifts. Anything they could give him they gave him. They wanted to make sure that their little genius had everything he could have to challenge and foster his gift.
Doug soon took a large interest in computers, his parents bought him his first one, but it wasn’t good enough. Him and his childhood best friend, Kitty Pryde, who was just as much of a geek as he was, spent hours tinkering with it, going out and getting more RAM, a better hard driver, a faster processor. Pretty soon his computer was second to none, at the time.
If it wasn’t for young Kitty, Doug would have never left the house. Unfortunately, when Kitty left to go to some prestigious prep school, Doug was left alone. He was okay with this though, he had his online friends that he roleplayed with, and he still kept in contact with Kitty via e-mail. Doug fast tracked his way through highschool, the course work was not really although hard for him. Even without his powers he was a pretty bright kid, and got easy A’s in every subject except Physical Education.
At age seventeen he left home to take computer science at MIT, where he still resides today.
PERSONALITY: If it had to be summed up in one word, Doug is a total and utter geek. From Star Trek, to the Lord of the Rings, he’s read them all, he’s seen them all, and he can speak all of the made up languages that go with them. He enjoys text based roleplaying online as well as MMORPG’s, he was quite addicted to WOW for a while, him and Kitty usually played out the campaigns together.
Doug can also come off as being a bit shy and reserved when you first meet him, but once you get to know him, he’s got this wild zany side to him, he loves to make people laugh, and it doesn’t bother him if people are laughing at him or not. He’s a bit of an introvert, and people have to force him to leave his room. He usually has to literally be dragged away from his computer screen, if someone wants him to go out somewhere.
